Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation (GEBIE) operates a Community Development Program (CDP) in the communities of Angurugu, Umbakumba and Milyakburra and outstations on the Groote Archipelago. CDP supports job seekers to build skills, address barriers and contribute to their communities through a range of flexible activities.

This is a pivotal opportunity where you will be challenged daily, but you will also be able to see the fruits of your labour as you support and advance the Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Communities. Under the direction of the Group CEO, the CDP operations manager will provide leadership for the delivery of the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) funded Community Development Program with a focus on improving quality of life through employment pathways, young adult development and income generating activities.

Job description/overview

Key Accountabilities include:

  • ensuring all NIAA program guidelines, funding agreement outcomes and reporting requirements are met by leading the team in service delivery, data collection and outcome reporting
  • driving the CDP team at all levels to embrace the principles of community consultation, local input to program design and high-quality data collection
  • developing and maintaining productive relationships with local Indigenous organisations, peak bodies, businesses, not-for profit organisations, government departments and other key stakeholders, as well as the broader community to increase the opportunities available for CDP participants
  • being accountable for the business operations of the CDP in line with budgets, service delivery plans, business plans, and performance frameworks.

Salary will be negotiated based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. This position is based at Angurugu Community, Groote Eylandt, however the successful candidate will be expected to operate from other sites as required.
