Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (LHAC) is a well-respected Aboriginal corporation in Northern Territory.
LHAC provides essential services, funded through a number of agencies, to almost 1,500 Yolngu people in almost 30 homelands across northeast Arnhem Land.
It employs around 150 staff and has an annual turnover more than $20 million.
It is governed by an elected board of up to nine directors, most of whom represent various communities in the homelands.

Job description/overview:
The board is seeking to appoint a non-member director to replace a long serving director who will depart at the end of his term. Candidates are invited to submit a written application outlining their suitability. Directors have a vitally important role in overseeing LHAC and must be committed to complying with the duties imposed by law and to act in the best interests of LHAC.
Independent directors have an obligation to attend 4 to 6 meetings per year. Board meetings can be conducted in Yirrkala, homeland communities or other locations including Darwin.
In order to be eligible applicants must meet the requirements as outlined in the LHAC rule book. This states the non-member directors are selected for their skills in financial management corporate governance, human resources, accounting, law or a field relating to the corporation's activities. The non-member director will be appointed for the term specified by the member directors for a term up to 2 years. After the 2 years, they can be reappointed.
Reasonable meeting and travel fees are paid.
