Job description/overview:
GLaWAC seeks to appoint a new general manager—on-Country operations reporting to the CEO. Expressions of interest are invited from experienced executives who can lead the management, revenue and cost elements of GLaWAC on-Country operations, as well as forward planning for on-Country operations and the Cultural Hub's tourism activities.
Day-to-day processes include:
- developing and coordinating new opportunities to raise funds and improve client relations
- implementing and overseeing the cultural tourism and on-Country programs
- non-financial reporting for funding bodies
- contractual agreements
- MoUs
- assessing and improving the economic development plan.
Selection criteria
Applicant skills and experience sought include:
- GLaWAC considers that being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic)
- Extensive experience in an operations management position in a government funded and/or not-for-profit body delivering community services, ideally with an Aboriginal corporation
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety and environmental management in the workplace.
- Experience in relationship management and development at a senior level with partnership agencies, contractors and community bodies.
- Proven high-level communication and interpersonal skills combined with team building, motivation and engagement of staff
- Strong public relations, communication, presentation and negotiation abilities.
- High ethical professional standards.
- Tertiary-level qualifications in business, finance, project management, community development, cultural heritage or other relevant discipline.
